Citywide Anti-Displacement Strategy

Anti Displacement Strategy.jpg

Background

On June 12, 2018, the San
José City Council adopted its Housing Crisis Response Workplan. The goal of this Workplan is to build 10,000 affordable and 15,000 market-rate homes in five years. As part of that Workplan, the City Council directed the Housing Department to write a Citywide Anti-Displacement Strategy. That same year, a public/private team from San José was selected to participate in PolicyLink’s 10-city All-in Cities Anti-Displacement Policy Network (ADPN).

In summer and fall 2019, the San Jose team is organizing a series of stakeholder and public meetings.  City staff will bring forward a Citywide Anti-Displacement Strategy for the City Council's consideration in fall 2019.

Current and Former Renter's Survey

Are you a renter in San José, or have you rented in San José within the last 10 years? We would like to hear from you.

The City has heard from the community that many long-time San José residents are being displaced and moving out of San Jose.  Your input and experience can help inform the Citywide Anti-Displacement Strategy to reduce, prevent, and mitigate displacement.  Responses to this survey will help staff better understand how the community has been affected by displacement and identify potential trends.

Please take a moment to complete our survey by clicking one of the links below.  You may call 408-794-7472 if you would like to take the survey on paper.  Thank you for participating.
